CARE-T2D: Supporting glucose management in type 2 diabetes

This study is led by researchers from Mary MacKillop Institute for Health Research, ACU. Together, we’re investigating how support from a dietitian, with or without continuous glucose monitoring (CGM), can improve self-care, glucose management, and wellbeing among people with type 2 diabetes.

Healthy eating and glucose monitoring are two important aspects of type 2 diabetes self-care. But many people with type 2 diabetes are unable to access support from dietetic services or act on advice. This project will explore the effects dietary education (provided by a dietitian), with or without continuous glucose monitoring (CGM), on glycaemic management over a 6-month period.

      • Location: This study is conducted remotely – you can live anywhere!
      • Duration: 6 months duration
      • Four sessions of telehealth dietetic support for glucose management
      • HbA1c, glucose, and lipid checks at your local pathology centre

You may also receive glucose monitors for use alongside the dietetic support.

      • Be aged 18+ years
      • Have a confirmed type 2 diabetes diagnosis
      • A current HbA1c of at least 7.0%
      • Not taking insulin
      • Have a smartphone and access to internet services (for telehealth)
