Dr Sharm Thuraisingam, BEMech(Hons) MBiostat PhD

Biostatistician

Sharm is a Biostatistician (PhD) at the ACBRD. She has extensive experience in the design, data management, and analysis of randomised controlled trials. Her doctoral research focused on developing a clinical prediction model for total knee replacement surgery using linked primary care electronic health records. She has expertise in data linkage, including working with complex Australian national datasets, and in a wide range of observational study analysis techniques.

Sharm has contributed to research across a range of chronic conditions—including diabetes, mental health, osteoarthritis, cerebral palsy, asthma, COPD—and has worked with diverse populations spanning children, adults, and aged care settings. She holds a Masters of Biostatistics from the University of Melbourne (2015) and previously worked as an Engineer (BEMech(Hons),2007), bringing a unique interdisciplinary perspective to medical and statistical research.

At the ACBRD, Sharm is involved in data monitoring and statistical analysis for randomised controlled trials, meta-analyses, and clinical prediction model development.
