Dr Uffe Søholm, MD, PhD

Research Fellow

Uffe is a Research Fellow at the ACBRD. His PhD (through University of Southern Denmark) investigated the personal daily impact of hypoglycaemia (low blood glucose) among adults with diabetes. His project made use of innovative data-collection methods such as ecological momentary assessment, allowing for real-time and real-world insights into the impact of hypoglycaemia on daily functioning.

Uffe holds an MD from Aarhus University, Denmark, and has worked with research in diabetes in both academia and industry. His broad research interests are in insulin-treated diabetes, person-centered healthcare, digital solutions, person-reported outcome measures, language and communication, and behavioural interventions. He has interest and skillsets within data management and analysis (in R) including intensive longitudinal data.

In Uffe’s current role he is involved in several intervention projects focusing on reducing negative impacts from hypoglycaemia. This includes an Australian online self-help program (HypoPAST) aiming at reducing fear of hypoglycaemia, and a global project using technology (hybrid closed loops) and psychoeducational programs to support people with type 1 diabetes in regaining awareness of hypoglycaemia (the CLEAR project).
