PhD Candidate
Karen joined the ACBRD as a PhD student in January 2024. Her research is looking at tailoring diabetes prevention for women in midlife. Karen’s PhD is a joint project with Deakin University and Coventry University (UK). Prof Jane Speight is Karen’s primary Australian PhD supervisor.
Prior to her PhD, Karen worked in the areas of science communication and public health, where her work focused on health literacy.
She is passionate about creating settings and building the capacity of individuals to maximise the impact of health services, programs and information – particularly outside of metropolitan areas.
