Research Assistant

Laura has worked as a research assistant at the ACBRD since 2023. She is currently providing support to the evaluation of the LISTEN project, a low-intensity mental health support program offered to people experiencing diabetes distress. The project utilises a problem-solving therapy framework and is delivered by credentialled diabetes educators via telehealth.
Laura graduated from the University of Newcastle in 2010 with a Bachelor of Nutrition & Dietetics (honours). She previously worked as a health promotion officer and a research assistant for Hunter New England Local Health District across a number of areas, including mental health, nutrition and eating disorders.
Laura has been personally affected by the experiences of family members and loved ones impacted by diabetes. She is thrilled to be working with the centre to help improve the lives of people living with diabetes.
