PhD Candidate / Research Assistant

Sarah joined the Centre as a casual Research Assistant in June 2022. She has a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) from Deakin University. Her honours thesis explored associations between, and psychosocial moderators of, weight self-stigma and healthful behaviours among Australian adults with type 2 diabetes.

Sarah is supporting the LISTEN project, which aims to test the effectiveness and scalability of Low Intensity mental health Support via a Telehealth Enabled Network (LISTEN) for adults with diabetes and cardiovascular disease. LISTEN is led by Dr Christel Hendrieckx and Dr Edith Holloway, and funded by the MRFF Targeted Translation Research Accelerator (TTRA) initiative.

Sarah began her PhD candidature with Deakin University in February 2023. Her PhD research will examine internalised stigma among women with type 2 diabetes. Her PhD supervisors are the Centre’s Dr Elizabeth Holmes-Truscott and Prof Jane Speight.
