Prof Jane Speight presented in the ‘primer on transplantation for the clinician’ symposium at #2017ADA.
With over 200 sessions over a 5-day period, and attended by more than 15,000 delegates from 110 countries, the American Diabetes Association’s annual conference is arguably the world’s largest and most influential diabetes conference.
Our director, Prof Jane Speight, was delighted to be an invited speaker, presenting the ‘psychosocial aspects of islet/pancreas transplantation’ in a symposium entitled ‘primer on transplantation for the clinician’, chaired by Dr Peter Senior (University of Alberta, Canada). During her presentation, she discussed the findings of a literature review on patient-reported outcomes assessed in islet and pancreas transplant studies, as well as presenting data from interviews with islet transplant recipients about their expectations and experiences of the procedure. On her return from the ADA, Jane gave interviews about her presentation to Deakin University and the Limbic.
